What is duncan designed pickups

Grandad Rock , Apr 13, Age: 51 5, Plug it and decide for yourself. Duncan Designed pickups are really well made, it all depends on how YOU want it to sound. Age: 45 10, Guitarmageddon , Apr 13, Davis Sharp and BlueSquirrel like this. It's a strange guitar. As made, it had a telecaster body, but a stratocaster neck. Triple Jim , Apr 13, Wouldn't be cheap. Guitars are more expensive in the UK than North America. BlueSquirrel , Apr 13, Single coil at the bridge at an angle and humbucker at the neck.

I just got it out to check. I had forgotten how beautiful it is. BlueSquirrel likes this. It's neither of those. Could you maybe post some pictures? The body is a squier vintage modified telecaster special. Butterscotch blond.

Jazz master pickups. Basswood body. Originally had a start neck, but now has a MIM telecaster neck. Age: 48 8, Could it be this? I posted while you were posting. Messages 39, DDs are better than, say, "select by EMG", though. V-Type Member. Messages 3, DD's are hit and miss. I had about 7 guitars that had them stock and only one had a copy of a JB that was relatively close.

The other's while not the worst Ive had "cough" Powersounds "cough" werent up too snuff compared too the real deal Duncans,DiMarzio's,Gibsons,etc..

Ive replaced them with. In fact they paled in comparison imo. Altgtr33 Member. The Duncan Designed pickups arn't too bad. The JB copy sounds pretty close to the real one and I'd also say the 59' would prolly be decent too, oh and the jazz copy is a pretty nice neck pup.

Jef Bardsley Member. Messages 2, The improvement is worth every penny. Messages 31, Messages 8, There can be major differences between "Duncan Design" and SD pickups. Aside from sonic differences, the Samick pickups were two wire, the SDs four.

These pickups, however, were nearly 20 years old. I'm guessing that the differences vary, and are on the order of the differences between the wide variety of Licensed Floyd Rose trems and the OFRs. In that particular case, of course, OFRs are often built on the same production lines as some LFRs, and aside from identifying information on the castings, might be identical. Fishin'Musician Member. Matt L Member. Messages 11, The neck was a big improvement, but I actually preferred the Duncan Designed pickup in the bridge I think it was a version of the Custom to the JB!

OotMagroot Silver Supporting Member. Messages 9, I played the DD version of the JB. No clue if that holds true to the entire line.

To me, Duncan Designed just like GFS pickups are alright pickups that might sound decent in some guitars, but awful in others.

There is usually a noticeable difference once you swap them out for something better, but that can be said across the board when moving up in levels of quality. NortheastHick Silver Supporting Member. Those DD pups suck They suck on purpose so people will buy replacement pups. How hard could it be to make them sound the same as the U. Not hard at all. But they don't even sound similar, smart business, low ethics. You must log in or register to reply here.
