Mass effect how do you change squad members

When players begin a side mission or go to explore one of the planets in the various clusters, they will also need to select a squad. However, it is easier to change squads during side missions in Mass Effect because there is less structure to these smaller assignments.

To change squads, players simply need to leave and return to the planet or station. Players can open the map and use the Return to Normandy button to leave the planet. They can then select the planet again from the Galaxy Map and choose Land. They should be able to choose a different squad to continue their explorations. Players should note, however, that leaving and returning will deposit the squad at the same landing point and require Shepard to drive the Mako some distance to return to where they previously were.

If players aren't sure what kinds of enemies or situations they might face but don't want to worry about needing to change their squad, they may want to select a well-rounded, balanced team with nearly equal biotics, tech, and combat specializations. Meaning, the squad members can only be changed before the mission is started, on your ship. On top of that, depending on how far you have progressed, some might be still locked for you.

Some pointers about squad members selection includes, selecting team members which will be optimized for the class you play with the Shepard. In other words, combine Biotics, skills, and weapon choices. After you do have the option of choosing your party, you can change squad members in Normandy, your main ship. Before you start any mission you choose from the control panel, you can change and edit them as you like.

The available characters will be shown at the selection screen, so feel free to create any setup you prefer. As mentioned above, all of them use different weapons and abilities, which will immensely help if they can use them in conjunction with your kit.

When a new character enters my squad, a menu appears allowing me to select my squad members. However, I have not been able to figure out how to do this during gameplay. I go to "squad" in the pause menu and no options appear, and I haven't seen any anywhere else.
